Concrete Work Built for the Project and the Climate

Concrete flatwork includes horizontal concrete surfaces such as patios, pool decks, walkways, floors, driveways, aprons, and pads. J-PAC manages excavation, base preparation, forming, placement, finishing, sealing, and surrounding site restoration as needed.

Why Preparation Matters

A concrete surface is only as dependable as the work beneath it. Uneven subgrade, weak base material, poor drainage, and the wrong concrete mix can contribute to movement and cracking.

J-PAC plans the depth, base, slope, control joints, finish, and concrete strength around the intended use. Exterior concrete also requires special attention to Maine’s repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Concrete Finishes

Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete adds pattern and texture to patios, pool decks, walkways, and outdoor living areas. It can recreate the appearance of stone, slate, brick, or wood while maintaining a continuous concrete surface.

Broom Finish

A broom finish creates practical exterior traction and offers an economical choice for walkways, patios, garage aprons, pads, and other working surfaces.

Smooth Trowel Finish

Smooth troweled concrete creates a dense, cleanable surface for protected interior spaces. Common uses include basements, garages, house floors, shops, and commercial interiors.

Maine-Bred -Craftsmanship

Bull Float Finish

A bull float finish is suited to areas where appearance and frequent cleaning are not priorities. Uses may include crawl spaces, mobile home pads, shed bases, or a concrete base beneath pavers.

Concrete Care

Sealer helps limit moisture absorption and protects the surface through changing weather. A sealed surface should cause water to bead instead of soaking into the concrete.

Wear varies by location. Dirt driveways, vehicle traffic, shoveling, deicing products, and exposed walking paths may shorten the time between sealing. J-PAC can explain how to monitor the surface and care for the finished work.
